What's up! My name is Mitsu and I am a Politics major and Legal Studies minor. I have been part of the JSA ever since I began college. The JSA has provided an amazing opportunity for me to wholly embrace the culture of Japan. A memorable moment in JSA are IJAC, beach day, hiking and Karaoke night. As Vice President, my plan would be to educate new students interested in the culture of Japan and help plan more memorable events. HOLA! My name is Yoshi, 16-17 VP, and I have to say JSA has been one of the greatest clubs I've joined since my freshman year. JSA's activities are a great opportunity to connect with your heritage and learn about the Japanese culture.
Definitely, my most memorable moments are karaoke, beachday, and IJAM.

Hello, my name is Marie Ai Maguire, but I go by Ai. I am a marine biology major, and I will be your JSA secretary for the '16-'17 school year! Being part of JSA my first year has not only helped me appreciate Japanese culture more, but it has also allowed me to meet new people, make new friends, and enjoy various events with them, such as beach day, IJAM, and more. I hope to make this club enjoyable for anyone who is interested in Japanese culture, wanting to make new friends, or just wants to have a fun year. どうも豊満です(とよみつ)! Hello! My name is Ichiro Toyomitsu and I am your 2016-2017 treasure of the UCSC JSA club! I joined this club with no expectations but I gradually found my place in this club and it has lead me to find my pride in being in this club. I hope I can get along with the rest of the officers and the club members and work together to make JSA a great club this year :). I look forward to all the events and wonderful club meetings and I hope I can contribute something for the club members. Some interesting fact about me is that I am bilingual (not that good with japanese), and I used to play piano and kendo for about 9 years (i really suck now...). Hey I’m Miyuki and I’m the public relations of jsa. I’m 150 cm tall, and I joined jsa because I was lured in by Japanese food. I may be awkward at first but once you get to know me, you’ll see that I’m actually really weird, mean and savage af. I’m a pro at stealing food so if you want to join jsa, you must swear loyalty to me and give me food whenever I please.
Jokes aside, I’m half Japanese and half Filipina and I lived in Japan for 6 years. The first meeting I went to was because they had curry, but I wanted to join this club because I wanted to keep in touch with my Japanese culture and meet other Japanese people. I look forward to meeting new people and have fun adventures with this year :)

Hello! My name is Kristen and my interest in Japanese language and culture are one of the many reasons I’m minoring in East Asian Studies, and it is also what made me interested in joining JSA. The JSA community is very warm and welcoming, which is how I grew close to many people through our fun JSA events. My favorite events so far have been our annual beach day with KASA and our hiking trips around Santa Cruz.
